Dear Mr Ensor,
George Bistis’ retirement from the Voice of America will be a loss for the people of America and Greece. For decades I have seen George Bistis’ work from the perspective of a US Senate Committee Staff Director, Assistant Secretary of Commerce and President of a public policy company in Washington. I have found his work to consistently conform to a high professional standard.
That work, his energy, tireless undertakings have contributed to the bilateral relations between the United States and Greece. The personal concern that he brought to his job enabled him to bring these issues to life in his reporting. The popularity of his work can be seen from many quarters including the extraordinary high number of hits that his work on the internet receives.
His work has contributed greatly to the Greek people’s understanding of American policies. And the personal relationships he has developed throughout high levels of the American government have also contributed to America’s understanding of our ally Greece. Both countries have benefited from it.
George will be missed.
